A LOBBY group is asking residents to share their views in a questionnaire on two proposed inclusions to the final Clean Air Zone Scheme.

Clean Air Greater Manchester want residents to answer questions about the A575/A580 in Worsley and the types of motorhomes/camper vans included in the charging scheme.

The 10 Greater Manchester local authorities have approved the GM-wide Clean Air Zone, which will launch in May 2022.

The idea is to help bring harmful nitrogen dioxide within legal limits as soon as possible.

Some categories of vehicles that do not meet emission standards will need to pay a daily charge, with some exemptions and discounts.

In the first finalised plans, any vehicle including vans, buses, coaches, taxis, private hire vehicles and lorries driving in Bolton which fail to meet emission standards are to be affected by the plans.

But this may now also include certain motorhomes and campervans.

A consultation on the proposed inclusions is currently taking place until October 13 and anyone can share their views on the impacts of these two proposed inclusions to the Clean Air Zone scheme.

The questionnaire is available online at cleanairgm.com/consultation for those interested.

Feedback from the 2020 consultation highlighted that motorcaravans with a vehicle category of M1/ M1 SP that are non-compliant would not be charged under the current GM CAZ scheme, whereas motorcaravans with a vehicle category of N1 or N2 that are non-compliant would be charged.

This means that the current GM CAP policy would not treat all motorhomes/campervans equally, as some would be subject to a daily charge (N1 and N2) and some would not (M1/M1 SP).

Motorhome and campervan owners are urged to check their vehicle handbooks to see if they will be impacted by the daily charge and to complete the online questionnaire.

The GM Charging Authorities Committee will determine the outcome of this consultation in January 2022.

Eligible owners of non-compliant vehicles will be able to apply for funding to support their vehicle upgrades from November 2021.
