RESIDENTS rushed to help after a car overturned during the morning rush hour.

The incident involved just one car and two people were taken to hospital.

Paramedics said one was suffering serious injuries.

Emergency services were called to Hulton Lane, near the play fields in Daubhill at around 9am.

Eye-witnesses say there was a mother and daughter in the car and possibly travelling to a nearby school.

Local resident Kantilal Khimani, who saw the accident, said: "There was a young girl about primary school age and a mother there.

"The mother and daughter managed to get out, locals helped."

According to local residents, the road is notorious for accidents and an extremely difficult place to navigate — and are calling for motorists to take extra care.

Mr Khimani said: "Hulton Lane is a bit of a death trap, people need to be aware of it."

A spokesman for North West Ambulance Service said: "We have taken two female patients to hospital. One in her 30s suffered serious injuries.

"The other was a 10-year-old girl."

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police confirmed that only one vehicle was involved and no arrests had been made.

The road was cordoned off as emergency services dealt with the incident and traffic diverted.
