Police were blocked from pulling over a car by a group who then abandoned their own vehicle on Wednesday night.

Officers were on patrol in central Bolton when they looked to stop a vehicle.

However, the driver of a Ford Focus 'intentionally' blocked the police car as they were about to do this.

Police then perused this vehicle, which also failed to stop when asked, before those inside the Focus jumped out of this car and jumped into another, abandoning it in Davenport Street.

Officers posted this vehicle on their social media pages, and it is not known if the occupants of the Ford were pursued further.

A GMP Traffic spokesman said: "The driver of the focus intentionally blocked the officer as he was about to stop another vehicle.

"The Focus then failed to stop and was pursued onto Davenport Street, Bolton, where the occupants abandoned the car before jumping into another car."
