Wanderers are back in League One action as they welcome Rotherham United to the UniBol on Saturday afternoon (KO 3pm).

Ian Evatt’s men enter the game on the back of a stunning 5-2 win against Ipswich Town at Portman Road.

The Whites are now up to third place in the league table with 12 points from their opening seven matches.

Team news

Andy Tutte faces a spell on the sidelines after tearing his hamstring in Tuesday’s Central League Cup fixture against Accrington Stanley.

Declan John is also a doubt for Wanderers after missing the last three games through illness.

However, Amadou Bakayoko is back on the grass and Xavier Amaechi has stepped up his rehabilitation.

Shane Ferguson and Freddie Ladapo are both doubts for Rotherham but Wes Harding is available after having to isolate due to a Covid contact.

Opposition lowdown

Saturday's opponents were relegated from the Championship last season after winning promotion a year prior on points-per-game.

The Millers currently sit in 13th place in the table following Tuesday night’s 1-1 draw at Lincoln City.

Head-to-head

  • Wanderers have faced Rotherham 41 times in their history, with a record of nine wins, 14 draws and 18 defeats
  • The Whites’ last win in the fixture came in December 2018 when Sammy Ameobi and Gary O’Neil were on target in a 2-1 victory at the UniBol

Last meeting

It was a day to forget for Wanderers fans when the sides last met, with Rotherham running out 6-1 winners at the New York Stadium back in September 2019.

Freddie Ladapo and Carlton Morris both scored twice for the hosts, while Thibaud Verlinden got on the scoresheet for the Whites.

It was Keith Hill’s first game in charge of the club following Football Ventures’ takeover two weeks prior.
