A DRUG-driver who had used cocaine has been banned from the roads for 12 months. Ahmed Abdifathi, aged 43, of Willows Lane, Bolton, admitted committing the offence when he drove a BMW 318 on Vicarage Street, Bolton, on January 27 and was fined £120.

A MAN who assaulted a police officer in Bolton on New Year’s Day has been ordered to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work. Zach Peacock, aged 25, of Rusheylea Close, Bolton, pleaded guilty to committing the offence. He was ordered to pay his victim £150 in compensation.

MAGISTRATES have fined a man £200 after he dropped a cigarette butt in Deansgate, Bolton, on November 10 last year. The case against David Monks, aged 44, of St Pauls Court, Bolton, was proved in his absence at Bolton Magistrates’ Court Monks was also ordered to pay £265 towards Bolton Council’s prosecution costs and a £34 victim surcharge.

A MAN who failed to stop selling food and drink after 10pm in breach of coronavirus restrictions on September 26 last year has been fined £500. Tawassal Hussain, of Green Lane, Bolton, pleaded guilty to committing the offence and was also ordered to pay £1,008 towards Bolton Council’s prosecution costs.

A THUG who assaulted a man, destroyed his Ford Fiesta car and harassed him by using threatening behaviour has been jailed for 32 weeks. Liam Lambert, aged 27, of Haydock Street, Bolton, committed the offences against Michael Green on September 1. Lambert was told that the offences were serious because he has a history of violent behaviour, fear was caused to his victim and they were committed only a short time after a suspended sentence was imposed for other matters. He was ordered to pay Mr Green £400 in compensation.

MAGISTRATES have jailed a man for eight weeks after he damaged a woman’s television on June 5 and double glazed window on July 28. Sentencing Harry Finlay, aged 34, of no fixed address, Wigan magistrates stated that he had a “flagrant disregard for people and their property” and a record of previous offending. He was ordered to pay his victim £429 in compensation and a restraining order was made banning him from contacting her or going to Moorside Avenue, Farnworth.

A MOTORIST has been fined by magistrates after admitting careless driving. Alan Rogers, aged 34, of Hawthorne Road, Bolton, had initially denied committing the offence when he drove a Nissan Juke on Deane Road, Bolton, on February 13 last year, but changed his plea to guilty. He was fined £456 and six points were added to his licence.

A WOMAN caught driving at 86mph on the M62 at Rochdale on February 8 has been fined £200 by magistrates. Hena Khan, aged 27, of Rishton Lane, Bolton, pleaded guilty to committing the offence.

MAGISTRATES have handed a man a suspended prison sentence after he sent offensive voice messages on July 13. Ben Greenhalgh, aged 26, of Newlands Avenue, Breightmet, admitted committing the Communications Act offence. He was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison, suspended for two years and he must participate in 20 days of rehabilitation activities. A restraining order was made banning him from contacting his victim.

MAGISTRATES have fined a man £200 after he dumped a bag of wood behind his Osborne Grove, Bolton, home on January 23 last year. The case against Lazlo Bukhammer, aged 23, was proved in his absence.

A MAN who assaulted a police officer has been electronically tagged and given a curfew. Mark Markland, aged 57, of Darwen Road, Bromley Cross admitted committing the offence on July 7. He was sentenced to a 7pm to 7am curfew for 10 weeks and must participate in 20 days of rehabilitation activities. He was also ordered to pay £100 in compensation to the officer.

A MAN has been ordered to have treatment for alcohol addiction after he admitted twice assaulting a woman on August 31. Jordan Powell, aged 32, of Manchester Road, Bolton, was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months during which he will have alcohol treatment for six months and must participate in 30 days of rehabilitation activities. A restraining order was made banning him from contacting his victim or going to Hardman Street, Farnworth. He must also pay her £130 in compensation.

A WOMAN has been fined £211 after she failed to produce a train ticket for a £6.50 journey. Magistrates heard how Vikki Watt, aged 31, of Bond Close, Horwich, could not produce a ticket when requested at Manchester Oxford Road on March 3 last year. She pleaded guilty and, was also ordered to pay £188.50 in costs and compensation.

A THIEF has been banned from entering all Home Bargains and Asda stores in Bolton and Farnworth. Magistrates made Jason Wadsworth, aged 26, of no fixed address, subject to a criminal behaviour order after hearing that he was convicted of committing 13 shoplifting offences on August 4. As part of the order, which lasts for two years, he is banned from approaching any staff member from the stores and cannot enter any retail premises in part of Farnworth town centre.

MAGISTRATES have jailed a man for 26 weeks after he was found guilty of assaulting a woman, using threatening behaviour and having a screwdriver in Cawdor Street, Bolton, on May 31. Alex Tajukna, aged 22, of no fixed address, denied committing the offences but was convicted following a trial.

A MAN who repeatedly breached a restraining order has been jailed for eight weeks. Michael Green’s latest breach occurred on June 27 when he visited a woman when banned by the court order. Green, aged 57, of Manchester Road, Bolton, pleaded guilty to committing the offence.
