WANDERERS winger Dennis Politic marked his Port Vale debut with a goal in a dramatic late win against Leyton Orient.

Politic found the top corner with a composed finish as the Valiants scored twice in injury time to seal a 3-2 victory at Vale Park.

The winger – who came through the Whites’ academy – headed to League Two in search of regular playing time after missing last season with a serious knee injury.

However, he had to wait for an opportunity in the first team as he continues his journey back to full fitness.

Speaking before the end of the transfer window, Wanderers boss Ian Evatt said: “Physically he is still not where I would like him to be so he needs time and minutes on the pitch.

“We have got a really competitive forward area at the moment and Dennis needs games to get himself to the fitness levels where he was prior to the injury.

“We think a lot of Dennis, he is a talented young man and I think he will be a big player for this club in the future but for now it is about aiding his development and getting him back up to speed.”

Port Vale are now up to third in the league table, having taken 18 points from their opening 10 matches.

Politic could be in action when the Valiants host Rochdale on Tuesday night in the Papa John’s Trophy (KO 7pm).
