BOLTON is getting ready for the launch of the Clean Air Zone.
Soon, cameras will start to appear where signs for the clean air zones will be displayed, which means charges may apply to certain vehicles in different class types.
A tweet from Bolton Council read: "You may see GM #CleanAirZone road signs and enforcement cameras popping up over the next few months.
"We’re getting ready for the launch of the Clean Air Zone on 30 May 2022.
"We’re just testing the cameras at the moment."
Greater Manchester has been instructed by government to introduce a charging Clean Air Zone. It’s expected to launch on 30 May 2022. Private cars and motorbikes will not be affected, but some types of the most polluting commercial and passenger vehicles will have to pay a daily charge to travel in the Zone.
Financial support will be available for eligible Greater Manchester people, businesses and organisations to move to cleaner vehicles.
Upgrading to a compliant vehicle before the Zone is introduced means you won’t have to pay a daily charge.
