PUPILS at a Farnworth primary school flourish during their time there.

Classrooms at St Peter’s CE Primary are described as “buzzing with the thrill of learning and achieving”.

The school was visited by Ofsted inspectors, who heaped praise on the school and marked it as outstanding once again.

Inspectors for the Government’s education watchdog reported: “Pupils at St Peter’ s flourish. This is because leaders and staff have high expectations of children and pupils and provide them with the very best education that they can.”

Pupils were described as happy and showing pride in their work.

One pupil told the inspectors: “Teachers teach us really well. If you get something wrong, they don’t shout.

“They go over the work and help you.”

Staff at the school were praised for nurturing the children, with Ofsted inspectors stating: “From the very start of the their time at St Peter’s, staff speak with pupils gently and patiently.”

And pupils “remember what teachers have taught them”.

Staff help develop the pupils into confident caring young citizens.

“Pupils learn of the importance of helping other people through well planned fund raising for charities,” reported inspectors. “ Leaders ensure that pupils learn about a wide range of other people and communities, and about current affairs and world issues. Pupils who spoke with the inspector had an excellent understanding of important world problems such as global warming.”

Parents were also found to be supportive of the school.

“A typical parental comment was ‘St Peter’s is a phenomenal school. The staff have not only pushed my child academically, but they have also nurtured their confidence, self belief, mindset and emotional needs, meaning they now thrive',” according to inspectors.

Equally, teachers said that the school is a great place to work and that leaders ensure that they have a reasonable workload.

Headteacher Lynn Williams said: “We are absolutely thrilled with the report and feel honoured that despite a more challenging inspection framework the inspector concluded that we continue to be an outstanding school. We are proud that we have once again achieved this benchmark.

“I wish to offer my thanks to the staff, governors, parents and pupils."
