POPULAR bar Northern Monkey is joining the comedy circuit.

The bar in Nelson Square is staging its first comedy night, bringing some of the best names in stand-up.

Liam Convey, co-owner, said the night of entertainment was to bring something extra to Bolton — and above all get people laughing after what has been a challenging 18 months or so.

The first comedy night takes place on October 21, with Ben Lawes and MC, a firm favourite on the circuit in and around Bolton.

Alex Boardman, will open the show, a comedian who has previously received the thumbs up from Shaun Ryder.

Natalie Hudson is billed as one to watch and the closing act will be the ‘brilliant’ Dan Nightingale.

Liam said: “I think after the past year people just want to be able to enjoy and have a laugh.

“The first comedy night is taking place on a Thursday, it is something different for people to enjoy during the week.

“We will have two well-known act, and up and coming act.

“The event is ticket only.”

Tickets are £10 entry and can bought from the bar or online from www.northernmonkeybrew.co.uk.

Due to the nature of the bar’s licence under-18s are not allowed on the premises past 8pm.
