A DAD-OF-FOUR has completed a 114 mile mountainous cycle ride to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Ian Ainscough, who works as a partnership quality lead for the charity, took part in the Saddleback Fred Whitton Challenge in the Lake District and came 805th out of a field of 2,500 riders who came from all over the world.
The world's top riders finish the mountainous challenge in just under six hours.
Mr Ainscough, from Over Hulton, said: "I had been contemplating doing the event for about the last 10 years and finally plucked up courage and corralled my mates to join me, but they all dropped out before the start.
"To train I rode up Winter Hill and around the moors hundreds of times, and I also rode the Fred route over two days last October.
"This was the first time doing the whole ride in one day and I managed it in 9hrs 15mins and 28 seconds.
"The supporters, atmosphere and Jaffa Cakes kept me going, and the thought of hugging my wife and children."
