A TEENAGE girl is in hospital with life-changing injuries after a hit-and-run in Bolton town centre last night.
Police were called to Great Moor Street, close to the junction of Newport Street, after a car hit two girls who were crossing the road and failed to stop at the scene.
Police are now hunting the driver of a red Audi, which they say was involved.
A 14-year-old and a 17-year-old were treated at the scene by paramedics.
The 14-year-old was girl was taken to hospital with life-changing pelvic and abdominal injuries. She remains in a serious condition in hospital.
The 17-year-old suffered minor injuries.
No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.
PC Thomas Berry, of GMP's Roads Policing Unit, said "This is a serious road traffic collision where the offending vehicle has failed to stop, leaving a 14-year-old girl in a serious condition in hospital.
"I am keen to speak to anyone who may have been in the Bolton town centre at the time of the collision and saw an older model dark red Audi A4 in the area.
"Anyone with information or dash cam footage should contact police on 101 quoting incident number 3118-09/10/2021.
"Reports can be made anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
The road was cordoned off last night and buses diverted to Morrisons.
The road was reopened after 11pm but buses continued to stop at the supermarket until end of service.
