WANDERERS will be looking to return to winning ways when they host Wigan Athletic on Saturday afternoon (KO 3pm).
Ian Evatt’s men enter the game on the back of a 1-0 defeat against Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough last weekend.
The result saw the Whites slip to eighth in the league table, having taken 18 points from their opening 12 fixtures.
Team news
Gethin Jones misses out through suspension, with Harry Brockbank set to replace the Welshman at right back.
Jones could be facing a longer spell on the sidelines than expected, having also suffered an ankle problem in training.
Evatt has also revealed there could be other missing named on the team sheet due to injury.
Opposition lowdown
Wigan survived relegation from League One last season, finishing 20th under Leam Richardson.
The Latics had a busy summer, bringing in 11 fresh faces including the likes of Max Power, Charlie Wyke and James McClean.
Richardson’s men sit third in the league table after winning seven of their opening 10 matches.
However, they suffered a 2-0 defeat at Crewe Alexandra in the Papa John’s Trophy in their last outing.
Head-to-head
- Wanderers have faced Wigan 47 times in their history, with a record of 15 wins, 13 draws and 17 defeats
- The Whites’ last win in the fixture came in January 2015 in the FA Cup, with Zach Clough scoring the decisive goal
Last meeting
Evatt’s men lost on penalties when the sides met in the Carabao Cup second round back in August.
Nathan Delfouneso and Kieran Lee both missed from the spot following a goalless draw at the DW Stadium.
