A STUDENT who was spotted walking naked along a Great Lever Street after suffering an adverse reaction to cannabis has been given a three-year community sentence.

Bolton Crown Court heard how Alberto Molina Fuentes stripped off his clothing on Bramhall Street on October 12 last year.

Molina Fuentes, aged 23, of Oldham Street, Manchester, spotted a woman as she crossed the road and followed her before trying to grab her.

When three men intervened the student pushed his victim, causing her to fall and leaving her with sore limbs.

Police and an ambulance were called and neighbours brought out a blanket to cover Molina Fuentes.

Two days later, while at the Royal Bolton Hospital, he punched a police officer, who told him to get back into bed, in the face.

The court heard that Molina Fuentes subsequently returned to his home in Tenerife for mental health treatment and has made good progress.

He has now come back to the UK to complete his degree and, after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting a woman and assaulting a police officer, The Honorary Recorder of Bolton Judge Martin Walsh sentenced him to a community order, including 40 days of rehabilitation activities.

He was also placed on the sex offenders’ register for five years.

"I am satisfied that in the usual circumstances of this case and in the light of the information which has been made available to me about your mental state, that the appropriate way of dealing with this case and providing you with the support you need and, importantly from my perspective, in ensuring that the public are adequately protected, is to make a community order," the judge told Molina Fuentes.
