A ROUND-UP of cases heard recently by magistrates

A MAN who caused damage to a Ford Transit van and a Mercedes in Bolton on August 25 has been ordered to abstain from drinking alcohol for 90 days. Daniel Loynd, aged 31, of Thynne Street, Bolton, admitted causing criminal damage and possessing a knife. As part of his community sentence he must undertake 240 hours of unpaid work and pay his victims a total of £900 in compensation.

MAGISTRATES have banned a driver from the roads for two years after he failed to provide police with a breath sample in Bolton on September 12. Jonathan Gillespie, aged 43, of Randale Drive, Bury, was ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work.

A MAN who was caught having unsupervised contact with a child on April 8 in breach of a sexual harm prevention order has been fined £354. Curtis Brooks, aged 22, of Mobberley Road, Breightmet, was made subject to the order after being convicted for having sexual conversations with a child on social media.

A MOTORBIKE rider who had drunk double the legal level of alcohol has been banned from holding a driving licence for 18 months. Dean Atkins, aged 50, of Catherine Street West, Horwich, admitted being over the limit when he rode the Daelim 125cc motorbike on White Lion Brow, Bolton, on September 10. He was fined £120.

A THIEF who burgled Costa Coffee has been jailed for 60 weeks after magistrates heard of his “appalling” criminal record. Stephen Done, aged 48, of Wolfenden Street, Bolton, broke into the shop, in Trinity Retail Park, Bolton, on August 7 and stole cash. The same day he also interfered with a Skoda Fabia with the intention of stealing.

MAGISTRATES have ordered a man to participate in a building better relationships programme for 33 days after he twice ignored a restraining order banning him from going to Scowcroft Street, Bolton. Michael Green, aged 57, of no fixed address, was sentenced to 34 weeks in prison, suspended for 18 months, with 10 days of rehabilitation activities.

MAGISTRATES have fined a man £250 after he pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman on May 25. Damir Smajic, aged 43, of Lime Street, Farnworth, was also ordered to pay his victim £50 in compensation.

A TEENAGER caught handling a stolen motorbike and moped has been ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work. Ethan Rigby, aged 18, of Lever Edge Lane, Bolton, was caught with a Honda Vision moped, worth £1,000, and a Benelli Tornado motorbike, valued at £2,000, on August 20. Rigby must participate in 12 days of rehabilitation activities and pay the bike owners a total of £1,443 in compensation.

A MAN who was previously jailed for harassing Bolton MP Yasmin Qureshi has been sentenced for harassing other people. Tyrone Gallagher, aged 51, of Gregson Field, Great Lever, pleaded guilty to persistently making use of a public electronic communications network for the purpose of causing annoyance, inconvenience or needless anxiety to another between September 22 and November 19, 2019. He also admitted harassing people between February 20 and April 10 last year by continually making attempts to contact them. Gallagher was sentenced to eight weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months.
