A DRIVER who police say failed to stop for officers was pursued through Bolton and by the police helicopter - before a stringer was used to bring the motorist to a stop.
GMP traffic said that the motorist was quickly spotted by the police helicopter after failing to pull over for officers last night.
The helicopter pilot guided traffic officers and police dogs to where the driver was going.
The stinger, a special device to puncture tyres, was used to bring the vehicle to a stop.
The driver was arrested.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "This vehicle failed to stop for #TransportUnit patrol but was quickly spotted by NPASNorthWest who guided #RPU and GMP Dogs patrols into its location. Vehicle pursued and stung. Driver detained on Wigan Rd and arrested."
