WANDERERS boss Ian Evatt says Plymouth are “top of the league for a reason” ahead of Tuesday night’s League One clash.

Lowe’s men have made a strong start to the campaign and sit at the top of the league table, having lost just one game.

The Bolton boss is expecting a tough test at Home Park and admits his side will have to be at their best to get anything from the game.

“Ryan has done really well, had a lot of success early in his career similar to me, and our profiles are quite similar,” he said.

“Last year they strengthened, almost a consolidation period, and now they have kicked on.

“They have had some excellent results and they are top of the league for a reason. At the moment they are the best team in the league.

“We have to perform to our levels and standards and hopefully that will be enough to get us a result.”

Despite their strong start, Lowe says his side are keeping their feet firmly on the ground ahead of Tuesday night’s game.

The Plymouth chief insists they aren’t taking the Whites lightly and praised Evatt for what he has achieved since taking charge at the UniBol.

“We have to respect Bolton for what they are and what they have been doing. Ian Evatt has done a fantastic job there,” Lowe told the club’s website.

“We’ll put our game plan together. It’s under the lights and hopefully there will be another 12,000 roaring the lads on, if not more.

“At the moment we are just enjoying it. We’re not getting too carried away but we are playing some fantastic football.

“The message to the players is to just keep going.”
