A TEENAGER was taken to hospital earlier today after being assaulted outside Bolton College.

The boy was left with head injuries after, according to eye witnesses, he was attacked by a gang of up to 15 male youths on Wellington Street just outside Bolton College on the morning of Tuesday October 19.

Police officers arrived on the scene at around 11.30, where they then taped off an area around the back of the college.

A GMP spokesperson said: "Officers were called at around 11.30am today (19 October) to a report of an assault outside of Bolton College, Wellington Street, Bolton.

"Emergency services attended and a male in his teens was taken to hospital with head injuries, his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

"Enquiries have established that the victim was attacked by a group of males.

"Officers remain at the scenes and enquiries are ongoing.

"No arrests have been made."

Bolton College principal Bill Webster has said staff will be speaking to police about the incident and that, as of just before 1pm this afternoon, the college is open again as normal for students.

Detectives have appealed for anyone with information to call 101 quoting incident 1194 of 19/10/2021.
