BEAUTIFULLY decorated pebbles commemorating the great sacrifice made have been placed in and around Bromley Cross in the lead up to Remembrance Day.

Volunteers along with councillors have hidden the pebbles, decorated with poppies, around Egerton and Bromley Cross as a way of families to get involved with remembrance activities.

The stone pebbles, painted by local Egerton resident, Ken Holt, are being hidden in the village and local parks and Cllr Connor is inviting families to get involved.

She said: “The poppy pebbles are a nice activity for the community leading up to the remembrance parade and services.

“With the half term coming up I thought it would be a nice activity that families and children can take part in.”

The idea is that families hunt for the poppy pebbles and once found place them on the war memorial in Egerton to mark Remembrance Day.

Cllr Connor said she got inspiration from the pebble craze that happened during the first lockdown in 2020 where residents painted pebbles in local woods to bring joy to residents on their daily walks.

She said: “We did the poppy pebbles last year with residents in the community but it was different because of Covid-19.

“This year we are hoping for a great turn out of 200 pebbles being placed on the memorial, alongside the existing pebbles that remain from last years pebble hunt.”

All residents in the area are invited to take part in the hunt and to have some fun.
