AN appeal for information has been made after an horrific robbery in a popular park.

The Bolton News reported how police have stepped up patrols at Longsight Park after a victim was attacked and robbed by four men.

The incident happened on Monday morning.

Cllr Mudasir Dean, the council's cabinet member for stronger communities, described the incident as 'alarming' and appealed for people with any information to contact police.

Neighbourhood police officers say that a member of the public was attacked by four me in black clothing and robbed.

Enquiries into the incident are ongoing say police.

A spokesman for GMP Bolton North said: “The incident occurred at around 10:30am. Four unknown males wearing black clothing approached the victim, stolen property and assaulted the victim.

“Ongoing enquiries are being made.”

Police say they are patrolling the area to offer reassurance and have described the incident as ‘isolated’.

Cllr Dean, who represents the Bradshaw ward, urged anyone who might have information which might help to come forward.

He said: “If there is anybody who has got any CCTV evidence in the area or if there are any eye witnesses that saw these four culprits together if they can bring it to the appropriate authorities that would really help.

“It is absolutely alarming for this type of thing to happen in your area, it is not what you expect a 10.30 in the morning.

“It is welcome that the police have decided to up patrols in the area.”

Residents reported seeing police and ambulance in the area, with a cordon put in place.
