A POPULAR nightclub in Bolton has moved to reassure clubbers in light of national reports that drink spiking cases are on the rise.

Level Nightclub in Nelson Square say they have measures in place to keep night time revellers safe.

Across social media over the last few weeks there have been rising reports of people being spiked when out in bars and clubs.

Police nationally have confirmed that reports of spiking are on the rise.

Various universities and bars across the country have put out statements urging people to take extra care when out.

Shockingly, many are claiming they have been spiked via injection rather than a tampered drink. This has caused concern for many with the risks associated with dirty needles.

Over the last month searches for ‘drink spiking’ have increased by over 800%

Nightclub bosses at Level say they have a 'Drinkaware team' on hand throughout the nights for people who need help and ensure people are drinking safely.

A spokesman for the club said: "With all the media and press in uk currently about drink spikings.

"Don't forget guys along side our security, in house paramedics team and front of house team and we have our award winning Drinkaware crew on hand if you need them.

"Just look for the red coats in the venue and at the front door, they will always be happy to talk and help you."

Started in 2017 in partnership with Greater Manchester Police (GMP), Drinkaware has introduced specially trained staff known as Drinkaware Crew at the Level Nightclub.

The scheme has been put in place to help promote a positive social atmosphere, reduce negative experiences related to drunkenness – including anti-social behaviour and sexual harassment and help minimise the associated costs drunken behaviour can have on the local night-time economy.

Drinkaware Crew will engage with clubbers and support young people who might be vulnerable as a result of drinking too much, the staff are easily recognised and present throughout the night to make sure that young people are having fun and get home safely.
