A THIEF who burgled Darby's Garden Centre in Westhoughton on March 25 has been given a suspended prison sentence.

At Wigan Magistrates’ Court Benjamin Walsh, aged 39, of Coverdale Road, Westhoughton, pleaded guilty to committing the offence.

He was sentenced to 18 weeks in prison, suspended for two years and will be subject to a 7pm to 7am curfew for six months which will be electronically monitored.

Walsh was also ordered to pay the garden centre £300 in compensation and must also pay £213 in costs and charges.
