WANDERERS captain Antoni Sarcevic has completed a shock move to non-league Stockport County.
With no transfer restrictions in the Conference, the midfielder is able to join the Hatters immediately and has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal at Edgeley Park.
Sarcevic’s omission from the team-sheet against former club Plymouth Argyle on Tuesday night appears to be the trigger for his sudden exit.
Here is what fans had to say about the move.
If he's been offered the deal and wanted it, makes sense to let him go. No point keeping a player if he doesn't want to be here. Just seems odd that he'd drop down 2 levels, not as if he's pushing 40.

We may never know the reason Sarcevic left. As long as he’s happy and as long as the club has a contingency plan, it’s not the end of the world. Gutted to see him leave but life goes on. We have a game tomorrow believe it or not 😂 #BWFC

Enjoy him lads, all the best sarce thanks for the memories, things clearly were not right for you at Bolton all the best with your career, once a wanderer always a wanderer 🤍💙#bwfc #stockportcounty https://t.co/yYnqVEb4mV

gutting to see sarce go but on the pitch wise we have just as good back ups that can take on his role so it’s not awful. hope this doesn’t have a huge knock on effect on the rest of the teams morale but i can imagine it already has. #bwfc

So our captain has left mid-season to join a non-league team? I guess our period of stability is over. #BWFC https://t.co/WPDznGmQ6y

Baffled by this Sarce situation 🤯 #bwfc

Wish Sarce all the best, but the aim is for this club to get better and go up the leagues.

That won’t happen with players content on dropping down divisions. #bwfc
Actually devastated what's going on??? #bwfc

Sarce was a big character in the dressing room and on the pitch despite some performances. We need someone on the field who fires up the team and I can’t see who that is at the minute… #bwfc

This has caught me by surprise. #BWFC https://t.co/mOll6htp2l

This one is so weird. Free transfer, dropping down two divisions, skipper leaving out of a transfer window: none of it makes sense. #bwfc

#bwfc surely this opens a spot for Comley in the squad 😊
