IAN Evatt has revealed Wanderers have an option to recall on-loan winger Dennis Politic from Port Vale in January.

Politic joined the League Two side over the summer after missing last season with a serious knee injury.

The winger had to be patient for an opportunity with the Valiants but marked his debut with a goal in a thrilling win against Leyton Orient.

He was also on target against Barrow earlier this month and set up James Wilson’s goal against Colchester over the weekend.

Vale sit second in the league table - five points behind league leaders Forest Green - having lost just three matches.

Evatt has been impressed with Politic’s recent form and insists it justifies his decision to send him out on loan.

“That’s why we sent him on loan, that’s what we wanted to get out of the loan. He wanted and need to play regular football after what was a serious injury last season,” said the Bolton boss.

“Now he’s getting more of a run of games, Dennis is showing his form so obviously we’ll closely monitor it and see where he gets to come January.

“It was a horrendous injury and credit must go to our physio department and to the way he applied himself during the rehabilitation.

“It takes time after injuries, it really does, and you have to go through some pain and frustration when you first come back because you don’t feel like you’re the same player.

“But eventually, time is a healer and he comes back. Dennis is now showing signs that he’s getting back to the Dennis Politic we knew before the injury.”
