WANDERERS welcome non-league Stockport County to the UniBol on Sunday afternoon in the FA Cup first round proper.
Ian Evatt’s men will be looking to go further than last season when they fell at the first hurdle following a 3-2 defeat against Crewe Alexandra.
Team news
Amadou Bakayoko could return to the squad after suffering an ankle injury against Gillingham last month, while Xavier Amaechi is back in full training after recovering from a fractured metatarsal.
Harry Brockbank has a tight calf and Josh Sheehan has a back problem, but Evatt stressed they are both minor concerns.
Opposition lowdown
Stockport sit ninth in the National League table after picking up 20 points from their opening 13 matches.
The Hatters recorded an emphatic 5-2 win at Dover Athletic in their last outing thanks to goals from Scott Quigley, Paddy Madden, Oliver Crankshaw, Liam Hogan and Ben Whitfield.
Earlier this week, the non-league outfit appointed Dave Challinor as their new manager following Simon Rusk’s recent departure.
Head-to-head
- Wanderers have faced Stockport 23 times in their history, with a record of nine wins, six draws and eight defeats
- The sides haven’t met at the UniBol since April 2001 when Colin Hendry scored in a 1-1 draw
Last meeting
Wanderers ran out 4-1 winners when the sides last met in the FA Cup third round back in January 2002.
Gudni Bergsson opened the scoring with a clinical header before the Whites’ doubled their lead through Karim Fradin’s own goal.
After the break, Henrik Pedersen added a third before substitute Michael Ricketts wrapped up the result with five minutes to go.
John Daley scored a consolation from the penalty spot in stoppage time after Kevin Nolan was judged to have handled inside the box.
