WANDERERS boss Ian Evatt says Xavier Amaechi’s return from injury will be “massive”.

Amaechi – who has represented England at Under-20 level - joined the Whites on loan from German side Hamburg over the summer.

However, the former Arsenal youngster is yet to make his competitive debut after suffering a fractured metatarsal in a pre-season friendly against Preston.

Amaechi recently returned to full training and Evatt says he is looking “fit and strong”.

“To get him back will be massive for us,” said the Bolton boss. “Xav was one of our marquee signings in the summer and we worked ever so hard to get him in.

“He also sacrificed a large amount of money to come here.

“He had a real tough gig with what happened at Leyland in pre-season, but again I can’t speak highly enough with how he has applied himself in his rehab and now he looks fit and strong.

“He will only get better and sharper with regular training and there is a reserve game that we have highlighted for him in the next 10 days.

“He’ll get some minutes there and start progressing back to the first team again.”

Amaechi’s loan deal runs until January but it is understood Wanderers have approached Hamburg over the possibility of an extension.
