WANDERERS boss Ian Evatt has confirmed there is an option for Ali Crawford’s loan deal at St Johnstone to be extended until the end of the season.

The 30-year-old headed to the Scottish Premier League on deadline day in search of regular playing time.

Crawford has made a positive start to life at McDiarmid Park, scoring in a 2-0 win against Dundee in the Scottish League Cup quarter final.

And Evatt says the Saints are interested in extending the midfielder’s stay past January.

“There’s an option for it to happen in January,” said the Bolton boss.

“I said at the time that the most important thing for Ali was to go up there and perform well, get himself playing regular football again, and he is doing that. 

“He is enjoying his football again, getting in the team, so we will see what happens in January. 

"But I would say there seems to be an appetite from both sides to make that happen.”

Callum Davidson’s men sit ninth in the league table, having taken 14 points from their opening 13 matches.

Crawford re-joined Wanderers in the summer of 2020, becoming Evatt’s first signing since taking charge at the UniBol.

The Scot featured 24 times for the Whites last season, finishing the campaign with a loan spell at Tranmere.
