Give us some history about the pub:

We have been landlord and landlady of The Spinners at Cowling in Chorley for 10 years and we wanted another challenge so when the opportunity came to open The Cardwell we jumped at the chance. We opened The Cardwell in September 2019. The pub had never served food before so we introduced a traditional English menu and it’s gone down a storm. It’s been a difficult two years with being closed but during lockdown we carried on serving our customers with takeaways. Our customers have been very loyal to us and since reopening we have been busier than ever.

Is food served? If so what’s on the menu?

Roast dinners, pizzas, pastas, burgers, salads.

Is there a beer garden?

We have the largest beer garden in Adlington

Do you have any darts/snooker/pool teams?

Yes darts and pool

Most popular drink served is:

Peroni, cask ales, large wine selection

Most memorable moment at the pub:

Reopening after lockdown

Do you have an entertainment line-up?

We have live music on every Friday and Saturday during December. During summer we have lots of garden parties with live music

Have you faced any challenges within the industry?

Yes lockdown. We had only been open 6 months and then got shut down because of Covid

The best thing about running a pub is...

Our customers. We have a very loyal community who have been amazing

The worst thing about running a pub is...

It’s long hours but it’s worth it

The perfect hangover cure is...

One of Ste’s roast dinners
