The owner of a Bolton business which was fined £15,000 for using illegal workers before he took over has said it will not happen again.

The Godfather in Farnworth was hit with the penalty for its conduct between October 2019 and December last year.

But Shehroze Kausaur, who took over the business in August this year, has said he will comply with all the checks.

He has said he took over a difficult situation but has managed to double takings in the three month period since he came in.

“This is a family business.

“We have got all the details of people.

“At the start we were barely taking in £1,000 a week, now we taking in £2,000 a week so we have doubled it.”

Companies House shows that Mr Kausaur was not in charge of the business during the time at which illegal workers were used.

UK Government rules state that an employer is obliged to check whether a prospective employee has the right to work in the UK.

Due to Covid it is now permitted for a worker to scan relevant documents and send them across digitally.

If an applicant cannot show documents an employer is required to check their immigration status with the Home Office.
