BEER lovers have reacted with disappointment after a popular brewery closed after just two years.

Bosses at Wayoh Brewing Company in Horwich have announced they have decided to close permanently.

No explanation was given but comments poured in on social media, expressing shock and wishing the owners, who had only opened in Lodge Bank Industrial Estate in 2019, good luck.

A statement by the brewery said: “Unfortunately, we have taken the decision to close Wayoh Brewing.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our customers who have supported us and all of the artists who have played at our venue.

“We’ve had some amazing nights and wish every artist the best of luck with their careers.

“Wayoh will be selling off our remaining stock that includes Christmas gift packs, priced at three bottles for £10. This will be your last chance to drink our craft ales.”

Customer posted about their disappointment on their Facebook site.

Janet Jenkinson said: “Awh so sorry to hear this. We had some good drinks in there over the summer. Best of luck with whatever you do next.”

Peter Byrom said: “So sorry to hear this news. It was a fantastic little brewery and the beer was great. All the best in whatever you and whatever your staff do in the future.”

Jo La Touche said: “I had the best 70th birthday ever, massive thanks to Steve and Alex for making my party so memorable.

“I thought I had found my local and now it’s gone. Good luck to you both in your new adventures and thank you for making us feel so welcome, it would have been nice to have a farewell drink.”

Another firm, Escape Brewery also showed their support and posted: “Sorry to hear this guys. Really sad news.”

Escape is a microbrewery in Westhoughton, serving vegan friendly beers among all their drinks.

Last year, Wayoh Brewing said they felt like they were hit twice after the government restrictions prevented them from opening a new bar.

At the time, co-owner Alex Handley said: “The loss in revenue has hit us hard and we are now selling only about 100 bottles a week. It is a huge difference. I feel like we have been hit twice, which is sickening.”

Wayoh was unavailable for further comment.
