A ROUND-UP of cases dealt with recently in court

MAGISTRATES have ordered a man to do 120 hours of unpaid work after he pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman on March 15 and harassing her by making numerous phone calls. Christopher Constantine, aged 39, of Third Avenue, Heaton, was also ordered to participate in 20 hours of rehabilitation activities.

A WOMAN who failed to show a ticket or pay for a train journey when she arrived at Victoria Station in Manchester has been ordered to hand over £332.40. Jamie Salmon, aged 25, of Mornington Road, Bolton, must pay a £146 fine plus £4.40 in compensation and £182 in costs.

A TEENAGER who stole a Vauxhall Corsa on March 17 has been referred to a youth offender panel for six months. The 17-year-old from Bolton, who cannot be named, admitted taking the Corsa without consent and allowing himself to be carried in a stolen Ford Fiesta on the same day. He was banned from driving for 12 months.

A WOMAN who assaulted two police officers has been fined £150. Roberta Difalco, aged 33, of Harvest Park, Halliwell, was convicted in her absence.

A MAN who was twice caught drug-driving has been banned from the roads for two years. Fayaz Patel, aged 37, of Cardwell Gardens, Bolton, had used cocaine and cannabis when he drove a Skoda Fabia on Blackburn Road, Bolton on April 11. Patel admitted drug-driving and failing to stop after a collision with a Fiat 500. Then, on May 27, Patel was caught drug-driving in a VW Passat in Cardwell Gardens. Patel admitted driving after using cannabis and possessing cannabis. He was fined a total of £800.

A RAIL passenger who claimed he had not bought a ticket because he was late and had to run for the train has been fined £220 plus £182 in costs and charges. Letters were sent to James Jolley, aged 20, of Plodder Lane, Farnworth, about the outstanding fare for the Salford Crescent to Deansgate journey but he did not respond.

A WOMAN spotted waving an ornamental sword in a Farnworth street has been given a suspended prison sentence. On September 26, Leanne Moritz, aged 40, of Peel Street, Farnworth, was seen with the sword near her home. After admitting possession of a bladed article in public, Moritz was sentenced to four months in prison, suspended for 12 months. She must participate in 25 days of rehabilitation activities.

A SHOPLIFTER who repeatedly stole goods from the Home Bargains store on Bury Road, Bolton, has been spared jail. William Henderson, aged 58, of Bury Road, Bolton, stole packs of wash tablets on September 9, washing liquid on October 11 and two rolls of artificial turf on October 14. He was sentenced to three months in prison, suspended for 12 months. As part of his sentence Henderson was electronically tagged and will be subject to a 6pm to 6am curfew for three months.

A DRIVER who was chased on foot by police after he was caught drug-driving has been banned from the roads for three years. Aqib Hamid, aged 29, of Wigan Road, Bolton, was driving a Honda Civic on Ellesmere Street, Bolton, on March 20 when officers tried to stop him. He had been using cannabis and tests showed illegal levels of the drug were found in his system. In addition to the driving ban, Hamid was fined £120.

MAGISTRATES have banned a man from driving for 12 months after he was caught behind the wheel of a VW Golf after using drugs. Joshua Quinlan, aged 30, of Ellesmere Road, Bolton, had used cannabis when he drove the car on Dovedale Road, Bolton, on April 29. He pleaded guilty to drug-driving and possessing cannabis and was fined a total of £160.

MAGISTRATES have sentenced a man to a conditional discharge for 12 months after he admitted damaging a woman’s window on September 12 last year. Adam Healey, aged 36, of Cramond Close, Bolton, was also ordered to pay £107 in costs.

A MOTORIST who drove on the pavement and in a cycle lane in order to undertake stationary traffic has been fined £120. Samuel West, aged 27, of Cressingham Road, Bolton, admitted carelessly driving on Manchester Road, Bolton, on August 11 in a Renault Scenic.

MAGISTRATES have fined a man £120 after he was caught driving a Vauxhall Astra on Shepherd Cross Street, Bolton, on December 12 last year without a licence or insurance. Gary Kay, aged 36, of Eldercot Grove, Bolton, admitted committing the offences.
