WANDERERS will be looking to bounce back from their FA Cup defeat against Stockport when they head south to take on Wycombe.

Ian Evatt’s men suffered a 5-3 defeat at Edgeley Park on Wednesday night despite goals from Elias Kachunga and Amadou Bakayoko, plus an Ash Palmer own goal.

Team news

Wanderers forward Dapo Afolayan is a doubt for Saturday’s game due to illness but MJ Williams is showing positive signs after missing the trip to Stockport.

Josh Sheehan will have a scan on a knee injury sustained at Edgeley Park, while Andrew Tutte is “ahead of schedule” as he continues his recovery from a torn hamstring.

Opposition lowdown

Wycombe were relegated from the Championship last season by the slimmest of margins, finishing just one point behind 21st-placed Derby.

The Chairboys brought in nine fresh faces over the summer including former Wales international Sam Vokes from Stoke.

Gareth Ainsworth’s men sit fourth in the League One table after taking 31 points from their opening 17 matches.

Head-to-head

  • Wanderers have only faced Wycombe twice in their history and have never won in the fixture
  • The Whites suffered a 2-0 loss when the sides last met at Adams Park back in August 2019

Last meeting

Wycombe came out on top when the sides last met following a 2-0 victory at the UniBol back in February 2020.

The Chairboys went ahead on the stoke of half-time when Aristote Nsiala diverted Jason McCarthy’s cross into his own net.

After the break, Joe Jacobson added a second from the penalty spot after Remi Matthews had brought down Fred Onyedinma in the box.
