A SCHOOL has been locked down after threats were made by someone claiming to have a gun this morning.
Police officers were called to the scene outside Golborne High School, on Lowton Road, Golborne,Wigan at around 10.40am today.
They had received reports of someone making threats while claiming to be in possession of a gun.
Chief Inspector Liz Sanderson, of GMPs Wigan Division, said: "Armed officers have been deployed to the scene and the school has been locked down as a precaution.
"The threats were made over the internet and no-one has approached the area with a firearm.
"I'd like to reassure the public that officers will remain at the scene while we investigate."
