BOLTON MP Mark Logan, has co-signed the Down Syndrome Bill which will improve maternity care, education, health, social care and employment for those living with Down syndrome in England.
This week, he met with the National Down Syndrome Policy Group (NDSPG) in Parliament to show his support.
The MP for Bolton North East said: “This is for Sadie, a young Boltonian living with Down syndrome. She is thriving and deserves access to the best possible support to continue to do so as she grows up.
"This Bill means that we will have the legislation in place for Sadie and the wider Down syndrome community to have better healthcare, more access to services and be more included in society.”
Down Syndrome Bill sponsor, The Rt Hon Dr Liam Fox MP said: “I am thrilled to bring forward a Bill to deal with the issues faced by those with Down syndrome.
The three main areas are to de-stigmatise Down syndrome, ensure that current provision of services is improved and to look ahead and deal with future issues.”
An online campaign supporting the Bill has been launched by the National Down Syndrome Policy Group (NDSPG). ‘Stand Up for Down Syndrome’ has attracted the signatures of over 30,00 people with Down syndrome, their families and supporters.
