TRIBUTES have been paid to an 82-year-old from Bolton, who was the ‘life and soul of the party’.

Brenda Morris (nee Worsley) died on November 5 and her funeral will be held tomorrow at Overdale Crematorium West Chapel at noon.

Great niece Adele Booth says the family have been inundated with nice messages of support after her death.

She said: “Brenda was very wise and just loved life and lived it to the full right to the end.

“She liked to have a drink and she could drink anyone under the table.

“She loved to go out and the lockdown impacted her.

“There was so much more she wanted to do.

“She is going to be missed by so many people and we have had lots of messages of support.

“I feel extremely proud of the impact she had on other people and she was so selfless.

“She never moaned once and never wallowed in self-pity and if anyone else was complaining she would tell them to get a grip.

“She was a bit of an agony aunt to us all and if you had a problem she would always talk to you and sort it out.

“Old friends used to say that she was so loyal and would always have a wise word to say and I have to admit she was right about things.”

Brenda was the daughter of the late Gladys and George Worsley and sister of the late Marjorie North.

She was born on February 14, 1932 and later went to Derby Street Secondary School before working at the BT telephone exchange in Bolton until she retired. She had no children.

Adele said: “She worked there from the age of 14 as her dad told her to get a job that had a good pension. She moved up into managerial positions and then retired.

“She used to tell us stories about how after work they would go to the pub. She had a lot of friends there.

“Also she had friends far away with some relatives in Australia so we are doing a weblink of the funeral.

“Brenda loved to socialise and her friends used to take her to quiz nights at the Doffcocker Inn.

“That was one of her requests for the funeral that we had a karaoke at the Doffcocker afterwards.

“She was very well-known at the pub and Sharon from the Doffcocker is coming to the funeral.”

Adele added that Brenda used to love going on holidays.

“She always went to Majorca and loved to travel and used to go away into her late 70s.”
