A BOLTON photographer describes her career as ‘possibly one of the best jobs in the world’ as she spends her days photographing Oasis icon, Noel Gallagher, around America and Australia.

Sharon Latham, a photographer who was born and raised in Horwich, has shared her incredible story of photographing Noel Gallagher, Bon Jovi, U2 and Bruce Springsteen as her collection of photographs are displayed at Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds: A New World Blazing, pop up exhibition.

RedHouse Originals Gallery launched the exhibition last week, offering an exclusive glimpse of life on the road with one of the world’s most successful artists, as documented by renowned photographer Sharon Latham.

This is the first time the full collection has been on public display, with artworks available to view until Sunday at 11 Police Street, Manchester.

Sharon first came to prominence in 2009 as the first female official Premier League club photographer for Manchester City.

It was their shared passion for football that ignited a friendship with Noel, and led to unprecedented access to the band over a period of five years.

Sharon said: “I was employed by Manchester City back in 2009 and it was the first time ever a football club had a female official photographer.

“For no football club to have a female photographer, I thought it’s 2009, what the hell is going on.

“I’d done bits and pieces with Noel whilst I was at Man City and when I mentioned to him I was leaving, Noel was astounded.

“He said ‘why would you leave Man City,’ obviously he is a massive fan of the club.

“So I joked and said I’ll go on tour with you and he just said ‘go on then.’

“America was an epic tour, it was so interesting and exciting, Australia was incredible too.

“I travelled around Australia with Noel and U2 in 2019 and as they flew to different gigs, I campervanned around the country to each gig, it was just amazing.

“It’s quite surreal that my pictures are being exhibited.

“I’m a girl from Horwich in an exhibition space with lots of Noel Gallagher pictures, it’s very surreal.”

Speaking of the exhibition, Noel Gallagher said: “Down the years I’ve been lucky enough to work with some of the best photographers in the world and I would put Sharon right up there.

“At its best a photograph should speak. What are the pictures saying?
