Christmas is coming to Bolton in the form of markets and Santa sleighs.

Farnworth and Kearsley will be hosting their first-ever Christmas market from December 3 for three days.

The markets were announced back in October by organisers BL4 Live, stating they would be hosting the markets for all residents in Bolton to enjoy and organisers are so excited.

The market will be open in Higher Market Street car park in Kearsley on December 3, 4 and 5 from noon until 7pm each day.

Gary Daniels, BL4 Live spokesman, said: "The whole team at BL4 Live are excited to welcome our community to Farnworth and Kearsley's first ever official Christmas market.

"We're delighted to be welcoming numerous local businesses' and independent traders to join us across the three days.

"We're aiming to bring some real community spirit and festive joy across our towns whilst keeping the event affordable and inclusive to all.

"Throughout the event we have the Grill swing and Crepe hut providing the real traditional smells and tastes from the famous market experience alongside traders offering personalised Christmas products, wreaths, centre pieces, children's toys, clothes and so much more.

"Like all good Christmas experiences, we have Santa himself taking the time to see the children in our grotto which has been a huge hit with pre bookings almost sold out.

"We're really looking forward to seeing families enjoying the live acts that we have each day whilst unwinding with bar refreshments in our marquee seating area to keep the winter chill at bay.

"We're hoping this is only the beginning of many great years."

Entry to the markets is free.

Not only can residents enjoy the market festivities, but an array of Christmas Sleighs will be making their way around the borough.

The Rotary Club of Westhoughton will have their sleigh drive around Westhoughton from December 6 to December 18.

Rotarian Ronald Bell said they are looking forward to sharing the magic of Christmas with all.

He said: "This year, we’re concentrating on getting out and about and will be visiting as many local roads and streets as possible.

"We've been preparing the sleigh ready for this year's programme and are now looking forward to sharing the magic of Christmas once again with local children and their families."

Bolton Lions Club will also be having a sleigh run, subject to the weather.

They will have their sleigh operating on December 6 in Johnson Fold, December 9 in Breightmet, December 13 in Markland Hill and December 16 in Sharples.

The voluntary organisation will also have some static sleighs at supermarkets too.
