A SHOPLIFTER stole £50 worth of alcohol from the Asda supermarket on Blackburn Road, Bolton on January 31. John Sloane, aged 40, of Shrewsbury Road, Heaton, pleaded guilty to committing the offence. He was sentenced to a conditional discharge for 12 months and was ordered to pay the store £50 in compensation.

A WOMAN who was caught drink-driving in Farnworth has been spared a licence ban after magistrates heard she “only drove a short distance in safe circumstances”. Victoria Webster, aged 46, of Ruskin Road, Little Lever, was caught driving a Peugeot 208 on Higher Market Street, Farnworth, on August 5. She was fined £120

MAGISTRATES have jailed a man for 26 weeks after he assaulted a person in Bolton on October 4. Mohammed Khan, aged 32, of Kendrew Road, Bolton admitted committing the offence on October 4.

A MAN who admitted using threatening behaviour in Middleton on July 15, 2019, has been given a community sentence. Kane Hewitt, aged 20, of Beech Avenue, Kearsley, was fined £250 and told he must participate in 10 days of rehabilitation activities.

A WOMAN has been ordered to do 60 hours of unpaid work after she was caught drink-driving. Jade Scrivens, aged 30, of Parkfield Avenue, Bolton, was over the legal alcohol limit when she drove a Peugeot 307 on St Helens Road, Bolton, on January 18 last year. Scrivens also admitted having no insurance and failing to surrender to court. In addition to the unpaid work she must participate in five days of rehabilitation activities and was banned from driving for three years.

A STOCKPORT County fan has been banned from all football grounds in the UK for three years after he admitted throwing a smoke flare towards the pitch at the University of Bolton Stadium. Benjamin Cross was attending the Bolton v Stockport FA Cup game on November 7 when he committed the offence. Cross, aged 22, of Albanley Crescent, Bridgehall, Stockport, pleaded guilty to possessing a smoke flare during a designated sporting event and throwing it towards the playing area. Magistrates made a football banning order and fined him £500.

MAGISTRATES have fined the boss of a shisha bar £800 after he failed to stop a person smoking at the premises. Mohammed Bux, of Beaconsfield Road, Bolton,committed the offence at the Xhale Lounge at The Bunker, in Gilnow Lane on January 16 last year. He was also ordered to pay £1,028 of Bolton Council’s prosecution costs.
