Bolton Hospice patient, Tara Ellis, has made a generous donation to the hospice to celebrate her 57th birthday.

Tara was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer earlier this year and says that the hospice has been her saviour over the dark, bleak days and weeks.

Tara said: “As an in-patient I have been touched by the kindness and compassion from not only those who have been directly involved in my care, but every member of the team who have gone over and above to ensure that I receive first-class care. To me, it is equivalent to a stay in a luxury hotel and I feel so privileged that I have been able to help in this way.”

Tara was so impressed at how well she has been looked after, both as an in-patient and during follow-up medical treatments in the hospice’s Wellbeing Hub, that she donated a sum of £2,151 made up of a personal donation and the proceeds of a fundraising auction she held for her birthday.

Tara added: “Please don’t think of Bolton Hospice as end of life. They aim to improve the lives of people whose illness may not be curable. They have certainly improved my life and I am eternally grateful for their empathy, care and support. No-one knows what life will bring for any of us, but I would be in a much worse place but for the compassionate and dedicated team at Bolton Hospice.”
