TWO firefighters from Bolton have been sacked after allegedly 'racist' comments, while another two are under investigation.
The incidents reportedly happened during the summer when the firefighter left the comments on a crew WhatsApp group, which only included certain members of staff.
All four of the firefighters were based at Bolton Central fire station and an investigation is ongoing.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: “Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service can confirm that two members of frontline staff have been dismissed following an internal investigation.
"Investigations are ongoing into further allegations.
“Due to the ongoing investigations it would not be appropriate to disclose further details at this time.”
A source who contacted the Bolton News said that the allegedly racist messages were left over a period of time and that complaints had not been taken seriously.
This same person said that two of the firefighters were long standing members of staff while another two were younger and less experienced.
