'Incident': Traffic built up around the A666 as a result of closures
A SECTION of motorway was closed in Bolton today due to a "police incident."
North West Motorway Police announced at around 1.30pm on Saturday that the A666, St Peters Way north and south had been closed around Kearsley, with motorway users warned to expect delays.
The incident occurred between A575 Manchester Road, Moses Gate, Bolton, and M61, Kearsley roundabout, Kearsley.
As a result traffic queues formed around the area and drivers have been advised to allow for extra time or consider different routes.
Emergency services announced at around 2.45pm that all sections of the road had been reopened with traffic starting to ease.
Police have not yet elaborated on the nature of the incident.
