ONE OF Bolton's most well established bakeries has added a new pasty, which already proved popular at the food and drink festival, to its range.

Carrs Pasties, based at the Market Place Shopping Centre, on Halliwell Road and on Manchester Road, says that it has introduced the new chicken, leek and ham pasty after asking customers what they would most like to see added to the bakery's range and finding this to be the most popular response.

The new pasties, made with shortcrust pastry, chicken, chopped leeks and ham in a creamy white sauce, were trialled at the Bolton Food and Drink Festival last August and proved popular enough for Carrs Pasties to decide to make the new edition permanent.

Managing director Joe Carr said: "We love the new pasty, customers have been asking for a chicken pasty with a creamy sauce for such a long time and it was so popular at the Bolton Food and Drink Festival that it made sense for us to make it a permanent product in the range.

"It’s great to finally have it on our shelves for customers to buy."

The new snack is the first chicken pasty that Carrs, which has been a well known presence in Bolton for three generations, has ever produced.

The company has trialled a new product every year since they first started attending the festival to gain feedback from customers on products, including the cheese and jalapeno pasty which the bakery says is now one of its most popular products.

The chicken, leek and ham pasty will be available fresh from the oven at all three Carrs Pasties shops across Bolton.

It will also be available for click and collect orders online.

The company says that it is also working on producing a frozen version of the chicken pasty.
