A BOLTON man has been hit with a large fine after taking part in an illegal gathering at an industrial unit.

Tameside Magistrates’ Court heard that Andrew Nixon broke Covid rules in March this year.

He took part in a gathering of two or more people at The Mill Industrial Estate on Bury New Road in Radcliffe.

The offence breached the Health Protection Regulations, which were brought in at the start of the pandemic in 2020.

Following the outcome Nixon, 42, was hit with a fine of £1,760 and costs of £90 and a £176 victim surcharge.

Nixon, of Beedon Avenue, Little Lever, who did not attend at court but was convicted in his absence, was ordered to pay this all within a month.
