MAGISTRATES have ordered a man to be electronically tagged after he was found guilty of assaulting a man on December 21, 2019.

Tony Gingell, aged 40, of Rivington Street, Blackrod, had denied committing the offence in Wigan but was convicted following at trial at Wigan Magistrates’ Court.

He pleaded guilting to damaging a gate at the Mecure Hotel on June 7 last year and using threatening behaviour towards a man.

He was sentenced to a 7pm to 6am curfew for eight weeks, must pay his victim £50 in compensation and £200 in compensation to the hotel and £95 towards funding victim services.
