A BUSINESS consultancy has been able to double its workforce over the past two years - with help from new technology strategies.

Management at Thornton & Lowe, which has been working with the GC Business Hub, has also turnover soar during the same timeframe.

Their staff roll-call has increased by 15 people, as they have won several key contracts, assisting companies with their contract and tender writing processes.

Company director David Thornton said: “It’s good to help companies to secure some major contracts.

“The businesses we work with have experienced real growth and opportunities because of our advice and it’s fair to say that our growth is nothing compared to that of our clients.

“The industry is growing and there’s more tenders out there than ever before. More private companies are using these processes as well.

“We have developed tender library software that has been well received by a number of large organisations like the NHS Trusts, SSE and national charities.”

T&L first started out in 2009 and works across the public and private sectors.

Business hub advisors saw that as technology has evolved, their product offering had grown beyond consultancy and bid writing and into software designed to take the strain out of the whole process.

The firm’s software allows the organisations that make regular bids to keep track of the information and resources they might require with minimal disruption.

Hopes are high the workforce will expand to 40 by the end of 2022 and bosses have acknowledged the GC Business Growth Hub’s support.

Mr Thornton added: “As far back as I can remember, since establishing the business we’ve worked with the hub on several projects. Whether it has been to develop our innovation strategy, find apprentices or to better understand and maintain income, they’ve been a great help.

“We’ve also used the hub’s expertise to help us train up our staff and make sure that they’re equipped with the right skills. A lot of the successes we’ve seen over the last five years have come off the back of innovation sessions with the hub that have helped us to see the light.”

Jonathan Crabtree, hub account manager, added: “David certainly has a plan and a vision for Thornton & Lowe and the company’s move to develop more software that can be used by the industry will open opportunities for the company as a whole. He clearly has the customer and their journey at the centre of his thinking.”
