A MAN who was spotted pushing a camera on a stick through a woman's letter box has been sentenced to a conditional discharge.

Bolton Crown Court heard how Jdon Panambo and the woman had been in a relationship which had ended about a year before he went to her home in Pixmore Avenue, Hall i'th' Wood on January 31.

Justin Hayhoe, prosecuting, told how the woman spotted 52-year-old Panambo sat outside her home in his car at 11am.

"She contacted the police and then heard a noise from her letterbox and saw the defendant putting a camera on a pole through the letterbox," said Mr Hayhoe.

The woman recorded the activity on her phone and then saw a second device being shoved through the letter box and an attempt to take the keys from the lock.

Damage, estimated at £66, was caused to the lock and Panambo, of Wavertree Road, Liverpool, was arrested three days later.

Panambo was originally charged with burglary but the charge was not proceeded with by the prosecution. He admitted causing criminal damage.

Panambo told police that his key did not work in the lock and so he had put the camera though the letterbox to see if the lock was working.

The Honorary Recorder of Bolton, Judge Martin Walsh heard how married Panambo, who works as a cleaner, has no previous convictions.

"The defendant wishes me to say he deeply regrets what he has done and is sorry about it," said Paul Treble, defending.

Panambo was sentenced to a conditional discharge for 12 months and was ordered to pay £66 in compensation plus £75 towards prosecution costs.

A restraining order was made banning him from contacting his victim.
