CASH injections have been secured by an insurer for two good causes - one in Bury - which they support in the community.
Staff at Stanmore Insurance Brokers made nominations for the Aviva Broker Community Fund, and now it has been announced the Little Lever firm has enjoyed a double success.
Fund promoters have confirmed Hollins Conservation Group, near Pilsworth, has been awarded £2,500. The bid was championed by account handler Linda Bartley, the group’s secretary, This will be used to host a free event with animal and falconry displays, featuring bird box building and pond dipping.
Linda said: “We’re delighted to have been awarded money from the fund, it will make sure the Go Wild Day is one to remember and will hopefully encourage the next generation of conservationists.”
Girls Out Loud has been presented with a £10,000 grant, after their work was highlighted by managing director Jackie Hyde. The social enterprise works to raise the aspirations of teenage girls who may need mentoring, using role models to build confidence, self-belief and emotional resilience.
Its Stardom programme focuses on vulnerable young girls at risk of losing school places, becoming teen mums or embroiled in crime.
Jackie said of the award: “It’s going to make a real difference to teenage girls who have had it tougher than most in the past 18 months.”
