GRATEFUL parents have gifted more than 500 presents to the children’s ward at Royal Bolton Hospital.

Daniel Gregory, a director at property management specialists GLD Properties Limited, based in Little Lever, gifted presents to the hospital for the second year running, as a thanks after the hospital cared for his son.

Daniel and Becci’s son James was born at Royal Bolton Hospital in July 2019 and spent some time in the hospital due to ill health.

In March 2020 he had a liver transplant at Leeds Children’s Hospital, returning home to Bolton at the end of April.

James has open access to the children’s ward at Bolton to receive treatment and care.

So to thank ward staff and to brighten Christmas, Daniel and his partner gifted more than 500 presents.

Daniel said: “Our son, James, needed a liver transplant and was in hospital during Christmas 2019 so we know just how difficult it is being a parent in hospital over such a magical period like Christmas. We are so lucky and so blessed Bolton is our local hospital and staff are our personal superheroes.

“It’s a privilege to be able to give back and ensure each and every present will mean the world to a child on Christmas Day.”

Four firms acted as drop off points - Hannon Holmes Estates Agents and the Market Hall, Little Lever, Ignite Fitness and JonSimon Estate Agents, in Radcliffe. Both Royal Bolton Hospital and Leeds Children’s Hospital were gifted presents.

Daniel added: “It took around a month of collecting and organising presents for both Bolton and Leeds and I’d like to say a huge thank you to all four amazing drop-off points.

Sarah Skinner, charity manager at Our Bolton NHS Charity, said: “Hearing about James’ experience on the children’s ward and how that inspired his parents to pay it forward to others spending Christmas in hospital is so humbling. We are overwhelmed by this incredible gesture of kindness."
