NEW swimming lessons are due to begin at a Bolton swimming school in the New Year.

Bolton Swim School, run by partners Charlotte Wilcock and Harry Johnstone, is expanding and offering lessons to children from Burnden Park Fitness Academy.

The school currently offers swimming lessons from Canon Slade School over the weekends.

From the first week in January, lessons at the fitness academy will start after school and at the weekend for children aged two to 16 years with daytime classes for babies.

Mrs Wilcock said: “We want to be part of the change to help all children learn the lifesaving skill of swimming by offering affordable and enjoyable lessons for all ages and abilities.

“We aim to teach our swimmers slightly differently to how other local swim schools might teach their pupils - we put a lot of focus on independent swimming, keeping our swimmers motivated through our fun teaching approach, continuously challenging the swimmers and regularly awarding badges and certificates.”

The team also reports back to the parents at the end of each lesson to keep them updated on their child’s progress.

The school offersshort and affordable courses, with small class sizes with a maximum of six per class and all teachers are qualified with a level 2 swim teaching qualification and are DBS checked.

She added: “We run another children’s swim school in Wigan, T.J Dolphins, which has been established for over 25 years.

"We’ve bought our successful approach we use over in Wigan to Bolton and we’re now looking to grow our community.

“Harry, myself and our team are really excited to be opening our doors at Burnden Park on January 5 and would love to let local parents know that they can start booking in lessons with us.”
