WALK-in clinic have been lined up in Bolton through Christmas week.

Health chies say all of the borough’s walk-in clinics are offering boosters to people aged 18 and over if it has been at least three months since their second dose, along with first and second doses for over-16s.

And 12 to 15 year olds can get first and second doses without an appointment at Market Place Shopping Centre, Horwich RMI, and Hootons at Bolton Wanderers Football Club. It must be at least 12 weeks since their first dose and they need to be accompanied by a parent/carer to give consent.

Some sites are also offering third doses for people with weakened immunity, as soon as eight weeks after second jabs if they have an NHS letter. Call 01204 462125, 462157, 46202 for help.

There are also plenty of appointments available at Peter House Surgery, Westhoughton for all doses. They are for patients of the Unsworth Group and Stable Fold practices. Text COVID, your initials and your date of birth to:

* 07730 765245 - Unsworth Group patients

* 07587 554149 - Stable Fold patients

The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JVCI) has this week recommended that 5-11 year olds who are clinically vulnerable should be offered a Covid vaccination, and that boosters should be extended to 16 and 17 year olds.

Clinicians are waiting for guidance about how and when this will be carried out. Please check Bolton Clinical Commissioning Group’s website and social media for updates.

Dr Helen Wall, senior responsible officer for the vaccination programme in Bolton, urged people to get their booster as soon as they are eligible.

She said: “The festive period is a busy time of year and people may have lots of plans, but getting your booster is quick and easy and you don’t need even need to make an appointment.

“Many of our sites are reporting no queues, and the 15 minute waiting time after you’ve been jabbed has been abolished, so you’ll be in and out in no time.

“I understand that people may be worried about getting side effects over the festive period but the majority will only get a stiff or sore arm. That’s preferable to getting Covid!

“Please make an early New Year’s resolution and get jabbed!”
