A SCHOOLGIRL used her birthday money to spread some yuletide cheer.

Sabrinah Warren, a Year Four pupil, at Bolton School junior girls, asked for money rather than presents on her ninth birthday earlier this year.

The pupil was inspired after hearing how one schoolgirl donated her hair to charity to help others.

She bought more than £1,000 worth of gifts for boys and girls in Bolton after contacting Sarah Lodge, a supported housing project for young women and families aged between 16-25, who are either pregnant or have children aged five and under.

With the details of the ages and sexes, Sabrinah then specifically chose gifts to suit the children.

A big shop took place at the toy shop Smyths, and when bosses found out about her kindness gave her a generous discount.

Sabrinah’s mother said: "My daughter was inspired to do this after an assembly championed another Hesketh House girl, Phoebe, who, earlier this term, donated her hair to The Little Princess Trust."
